  • Part 22 – Mistakes

I think Mom and Dad have made a serious mistake. They decided that since Fred, the dog did such a great job of raising Sophia and me, that he can do the same with a puppy. Personally I think he used all of his best talents in raising me, but fell down on the job with Sophia. He has gotten so much older now, I don’t see how he can keep up with the puppy.

Mom says the puppy’s name is Missy. I think Messy might be better. She has way too much energy as she tears any paper item she finds on the floor. She is also questionable about doing all of her business outside. Fred just looks the other way when she pees on the floor. Good Grief! Fred didn’t need to instruct either Sophia or me on how to use our litter box. Puppies just aren’t as sophisticated as kittens.

Dad says Missy is cute. I just don’t see it. She is a plain reddish brown with a white stripe across her nose. There is also the expression of, “Pretty is what pretty does.” She barks at everything. She also chases Sophia. I may not like Sophia, but Missy doesn’t need to chase her. I actually feel sorry for Sophia since Missy has taken her place on Dad’s lap. I may need to start being nicer to her. I refuse to call her my sister, but she is much better than this silly dog. I also feel sorry for old Fred. That puppy isn’t very nice to him. He deserves better.

  • Part 23 – Mom’s Mad

Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day. It wasn’t either too hot nor too cold (although I know that cold is coming soon.) Mom was in and out working on things, so she put Sophia and me on our outside leads. We both like that. I know Mom likes it as well because we are both safe.

I got tired of exploring the area of the yard I could reach on my lead. I decided to use one of my super powers and wiggle out of my harness. I have learned that I can pop my head out of one part and then suck in my tummy to get out of the belly band section. I was then able to wander out to where the van was parked. I hadn’t checked under it since we got home. Things there are just fine. I also checked under the back deck. No skunks or other cats were resting there. Mom tried to catch me, but I played hard to get for over two hours. It was glorious. Mom said I was a turd. She is as silly as that puppy!

  • Part 24 – I’ve Been Lazy

I just looked at the calendar. I didn’t do a single post last week. One day just blended into another. Mom says that it takes a week before all of us realize that the trip was tiring. Of course she also says she read that cats can sleep 18 hours of the 24 each day! That sounds about right. She added that old dogs can sleep 14 hours. I know Fred sleeps more than that silly puppy, Missy. Mom worries about Fred because there are times he is extremely hard to wake when she wants him to go out. More than once she has had to check that he is still breathing. Of course there are times when she worries about Dad the same way. I don’t like to think about either of those things. I only want to think about Fred telling me how much he enjoyed walking on the beach when we went to Galveston. I didn’t want to walk on the beach. The waves were too loud. But he did smile when he talked about it. He doesn’t smile as much anymore. That also worries Mom.
