  • Post – 67 Easter Sunday

I waited until late to make my post. Mom said that today was Easter Sunday. She said that the Easter Bunny would often hide colored eggs and candy for children to find. I didn’t see a bunny nor did I find eggs or candy in our play yard. I did see a stray black cat that is often on the front porch. I wonder if that cat caught the bunny?

Monday is April Fool’s Day. I’d love to play a prank on my cat and dog sisters. I need to have a long nap to think up a good prank. I’ll keep you posted.

  • Post 68 – An Author

As you must know by now, my Mom is an author. That is why she has a website where I can share my posts. Personally, I think I should have my own website and email address, but she still says we can share. Today, I mention that she is an author because she and her new editor will be polishing her second cozy mystery – Finding Sarah Winters. I am sure it will be an entertaining book, although it would be better if she mentioned me. She is looking forward to planning a book launch and then her Spring book tour.

She has also started to work on a 3rd cozy mystery with her same cast of detectives. Again the book would be better if she included me as one of the detectives, but probably not this one either. She has a working title for it as Drowning in Chicago. I, for one, am not interesting either drowning or Chicago. We have traveled past Chicago on some of her book tours, but I don’t think I’d like actually spending time in such a big city. At one time, Dad had expressed an interest in seeing some of the museums there, but he has changed his mind. I agree with him.

For fun and excitement, Mom has also started her 5th romance novel. For now she is developing the storyline in her outline. I probably won’t be in this book either. She has never worked on three books at the same time. Hopefully this will all work well for her. If she gets all of these done, she may just do a book all about me and some fun adventures. I wonder if she could have me riding a motorcycle like Maggie did in her 1st book, or patrolling a construction site like the one she put into her 2nd book. I’ll pass on the forest fire from book # 3, but the beach might be nice like she had in book 4. I really need to chat with her about this.

  • Post 69 – Birthdays

Dad turned 82 this last week. Mom invited a few close friends here for his birthday dinner. Dad had a good time. Mom had worried about it, because sometimes having other people around can be very hard on Dad. I understand that completely. It was also my birthday, and there was no way I wanted any extra people in our house! I was happy to take a nap while everyone was here. Later, Mom gave me a small piece of the roast beef while she put things away. I also licked the ice cream spoon, but passed on the cake.

Because I don’t remember my birth mother, we don’t know for sure when I was born. Considering what a mess I was when I found my way to this back yard, I don’t think my arrival had been a happy occasion for my birth mom. My Mom and Dad, however, seem to be very happy that I am part of the family. Mom talked with the vet about my age. Dad’s birthday seemed to be a good date for me as well. Dad may be surprised at turning 82, but I knew I could turn 10. It has been a hard year, but I did it. I think we will plan a party when I reach a full year since my bout with cancer. I’m not sure just how we will celebrate, but I’m sure Mom will give me kisses. One day at a time.
