  • Part 58 – Wanted to Share

Mom will sometime show me silly pictures that appear on her social media account. I don’t really understand “social media.” She told me that my blog posts appear on her website, but also on her author Facebook account. She says that means more people get to share in my story. I can live with that. Today I’m happy to share one of those pictures. My mom clearly knows how to listen. The picture came from Matt Bartel.

  • Part 59 – Pineapple

We have a pineapple plant that comes in for the winter and then goes back outside when the weather gets warmer. It is a rather big plant that takes up way too much space on the table that sits in the family room. I’m not impressed with it, but my sister Sophia loves it. Well at least I think I can say she loves it, but she isn’t nice to it. She chews on the leaves. When a leaf starts to look really brown and scruffy, Mom cuts it off. Sophia then starts to munch on a different leaf. Sometimes Mom buys new fresh pineapples. Before Mom can peel and then slice them, Sophia will sit on the counter to eat the leaves. I heard Mom tell Dad, that she often buys the pineapple just so Sophia can eat the fresh leaves.

Today I watch as Sophia grooms Dad’s hair. This is something she does almost every day. He tries to stop her, but then gives up. She will often spend an hour making certain that his hair is just the way she thinks it should be. I don’t know how he can put up with it. The best that can be said, is that at least she doesn’t munch on his hair the way she does on that pineapple!

  • Part 60 – Covid

Mom worked at the election on Tuesday. She left the house at 6 AM and didn’t get home until 9:30 PM. That meant Dad was the only one who could add food to our bowl and take the time to pick me up. He does okay with that, but Mom is better. I tried to tell her to take me along before left, but she said no.

She did tell us that she sent her friend home who had been there with her. Her friend wasn’t feeling well, and Mom was concerned. It turns out that the friend has something called Covid, and is now in the hospital. I remember that it was Covid that had Mom and Dad staying home a lot a couple of years ago. Mom said that it had made lots of people very very sick. She said that she and Dad had been vaccinated. I didn’t realize that they get shots just like Sophia, Missy and I do. I don’t think they go to the vet for their shots. Now she says she hopes she didn’t catch it to bring home to Dad. She will need to wait until the end of the week before she can do the test. I’ll be watching to see if she starts coughing as I remember that was one of the 1st signs that she may have it. I don’t want my people to get sick. Who would make certain that our food bowls are full?
