Part 113 – Trees

This morning, Mom did something that she does every year at about this time. She drug a big red bundle into the living room from one of the outside storage buildings. I recognized that bundle. It is usually followed by a second even larger bundle. She explained that this year, she may only bring in this smaller one. She said that the dinning room would still be filled with the oxygen bottles that Dad doesn’t need until later this next week. She said she needed all of the floor space to unpack that larger bundle. Both bundles contain artificial trees. I have no idea why she wants artificial ones rather than real ones, but she muttered something about allergies when I asked.

The smaller tree has now been assembled and placed on the window seat in the living room. I know that it will sit there today and maybe even tomorrow to let Miko smell it before she adds the pretty lights. I remember climbing it in my younger days. Mom thinks Miko will do the same. I’ll bet she takes a picture of her there like she did with me. This whole thing seems pretty silly, but it breaks up the routine of our days. It is too bad that Dad doesn’t want a tree in the family room. I’ll bet it would make him feel better. I’ll try to explain that to Mom. I know that she even has a 3rd tree that has lots of parts. That one might be too big. I think a tiny one on the table where Mom and Dad have played cards might be perfect. Wish I could go shopping for her.
