Post 93 – Life in Texas Summer

I didn’t post on Sunday. I didn’t post on Wednesday. Today is Thursday and I really don’t have a lot to say, but I will tell you about our week.

Sunday, Mom said she needed to drive 75 miles each way to pick up her new glasses. By the time they got home, we all just wanted a good nap. I spent most of the evening sitting on her shoulder so I could sniff the glasses. She didn’t seem to like that very much. She said my nose prints blurred her vision. Sigh.

Monday, a big truck showed up and took our little yellow car away. Mom and Dad talked about a check engine light. They had just decided that they plan to keep the car rather than buying a new one. Mom had taken the van to the other dealership last week. They had rotated the tires, but now it had a funny sound. Mom got it fixed, and back home in time for another nap. She said that now the van just needs its new outside mirror installed. She decided she would order the replacement mirror, and see about doing the switch herself. I’d love to help, but she probably won’t let me. Sigh

Tuesday, they called about the issue with the little yellow car. It was not a big thing, and was not covered by the warranty. Mom told them to do the 75,000 mile service, whatever that means. Sophia is feeling better, and we got to go outside for a nice long sniff. I know that the baby chickens and other cats have all been in our yard. We really need to go out more often to chase them away. Mom said that Missy the dog does that. I still think it should be our job. Sigh.

Wednesday, Mom and Dad drove 45 miles each way to pick up the little yellow car. The people there had even washed it. We have a big crape myrtle bush beside the driveway that is blooming. That means that sticky stuff covers everything, and then dirt sticks to those same things, car included. I don’t mind because that makes even more things smell different when we go out. When Mom got back home with the van, she called a friend down the street. She drove the van to his house to fix the driver’s side running board. She said it was only hanging by one bracket. Dad drove her home and then later back over to pick up the van. He has driven more this week than he had all of last month. He didn’t take me with him for any of those trips. I’d make a great navigator. Sigh.

Today is Thursday. Mom said she plans to rewatch the videos on changing out that outside mirror. I sat with her when she watched them the first time. I could offer her advice while she works, but she probably won’t use my van lead to let me be there. Sigh.

This has been a hectic week which is just not how we normally spend summer at our house is Texas.
May you have a great day and stay cool.
