If you are following in order, you know that in my last post I talked about the colors of the flowers outside my windows. One of my readers asked Mom about that. There had been an old TV show about a color blind lion – Clarence the Cross Eyed Lion. I asked Mom to research this because I can see things in color. Per her research, she learned that some vets believe cats can see blue, green and red and others add yellow.* I always just thought I was special, because I know my sister Sophia can’t see those colors as well as I can. If you have read my story from the beginning, you know that I am blind in one eye. This is so normal for me that I rarely give it much thought until the discussion of color. I always assumed it was like those statements of people having enhancement of other senses when they lose one like enhanced hearing when eye sight is lost. For me, I assumed it is enhanced colors because my overall vision is limited. I also know that blue is my favorite color. Of the assorted color small plastic balls we have all over the house, my favorite one is blue.
I like seeing the bright green grass and the blue bell shaped flowers. I also like those early flat yellow flowers that pop up all over the yard. There are dozens of them in our outside play area. I watch those carefully because they often have bees in them. I like to catch beetles, but I prefer to stay away from the bees. Mom also says that the bees are a good thing. I’ll take her word for it.
