Social Media

I’m not the best at keeping up with social media. I do use Facebook to catch up with relatives and friends at a distance. It is also handy to learn about local events. Because we live in a small town, word of mouth is a major source for local news. I only remember to post things here when there is a major event happening. Usually I’m just wrapped up in my writing and the boring daily details in my life. Somehow saying that I’m starting Chapter 19 in Book # 6 doesn’t seem news worthy. At this point, I question daily if the storyline is good enough to finish writing the book!

I’ve watched the news on the changes to Twitter. It has never been a platform that I have found even interesting. I don’t care about celebrities’ and their lives. I keep my author views and my political views as far apart as possible. I have never thought in short little blocks. My students always knew there would be a story attached to my teaching examples. That never translated to short blocks of text. I opened an account because I could automatically feed text from my blog to Twitter (and to Facebook.) That link to Twitter has been discontinued. I don’t have Twitter followers, so I doubt if anyone will miss me.

Now my question is what social media should I add to my author pages? There seem to be so many options, but do they actually have an impact for an author? Do you have suggestions?
