Part 86 – Calico
Mom reads a lot of novels. She says it is to give her ideas about her own writing. I think she just likes to read. She reads 2 – 4 novels each week. She does most of her reading just before she goes to sleep and as part of our afternoon nap time. Some nights she reads until it is entirely too late. She still gets up between 5 and 6 AM (personally I think 4 AM would be better.) I do try to tell her to turn off the light and close the book. I do this in the best way possible – I sit between her face and the book and press my nose to her nose. Sometimes she tells me, “Just one more chapter.” I only let her read for 5 more minutes before my nose is against hers again.
The novel she is currently reading is supposedly written by a cat. I don’t have an issue with that, because I do write this blog. My issue is the description of a “hippy” stray beach cat with a catnip habit. That would be fine, but right off the bat the beach cat is a male calico!!!!! Every cat knows that 99.9% of calicos are female. If the cat is this story is 1) male and 2) a calico, the writing cat would make a point of how rare he is. Clearly the person writing this novel is uneducated about real cats. Why didn’t the author make the beach cat into a tabby? It could be an orange tabby in contrast to the “author” who is a black & white tuxedo cat. In closing, I’ll say again that Mom needs to turn my blog into a book because she and I know what real cats are all about!

Part 87 – Ignoring Me Again!
This week is the Honey Grove Quilt Hop, and Mom is the coordinator. The Hop is part of the Bonham, TX Quilt Hop. Mom explained that there will be 10 places in the two towns that will display quilts owned by people in the area. Some of them are new, machine stitched and others are100% hand stitched. Mom likes to take tops that have been hand pieced a long time ago, assemble the top, the back, and the soft stuff in the middle, and then hand stitch the parts together. She often lets me lay on the parts. I like the soft stuff in the middle.
People have come to the house all week to bring her quilts to display. She puts them in the dinning room and then closes the door. She won’t let me test the softness of any of them! Next up she types on the computer and then prints a sheet to put with each quilt. After she is done with that, and if it isn’t raining, she takes the stacks of quilts to the van. All of this means she is too busy to hold me. I have told her that is not acceptable, but I don’t think she listens. She did say that she would let me put pictures of the quilts on my blog once the Hop is over. I don’t care about pictures. I want to smell those quilts and find the softest one for my nap!

Part 88 – Snuggle
We didn’t post yesterday; I apologize. As you have learned by now, I need Mom’s help to make these posts. I love to see what happens on the screen when I walk across the keyboard, but I need her help to turn those into actual words that my fans can understand. She really wasn’t up to helping me. She and Dad did their normal grocery run. Dad was out of fresh fruit and cookies which is never good. When they got home, Mom put everything away and then fixed their lunch. I’m not sure why she makes such a big deal about eating in the middle of the day, but that discussion is for another post.
After lunch, Mom and I laid down on the bed with her book for our afternoon reading time nap. I could tell she was really tired because, she only read a page or two before her hand dropped the book. I didn’t mind that it fell on me. I moved from beside her to my favorite place. There are times I like to sit on her chest so I can press my nose to hers, but my favorite is to turn around and lay in the valley her legs form when she lays on her back. I fit perfectly with my head just past her knees. When she is really tired, she lets me lay there for more than an hour. This snuggle time makes up for her ignoring me all last week!
I have to add an adenium to this post. WordPress offered Mom an option to add an AI generated image. The cat images they first offered are of orange tabbies. I’ll share one now. Maybe next time we can offer more. Pictures of me will always be the best, but this AI stuff is at least interesting. They wanted to put this image at the top of my post, but I made Mom move it. I want to keep you guessing before you see my pictures!
