  • Part 34 – Sunday is Shopping

Today is Sunday. This is when Mom and Dad do their weekly grocery shopping. They started it during that nasty time of Covid-19. Mom said that early on Sunday mornings there were fewer people in the stores. They could easily stay 6 feet away from the other people. She liked that. She would have her list ready and zip in and out quickly. I don’t think Dad does as much zipping these days, but he usually goes with her.

I like shopping days because Mom puts Sophia and me on our outside leads. We get to explore while they bring in the bags of groceries. She usually lets us stay out while she puts everything away. Then she takes Missy for a walk around the back yard, before bringing us in. Some times I like to step out of my harness and continue to sniff things. Mom doesn’t like that, but I try to make it a sport of “Catch Me If You Can.” Only when I get tired, do I let her catch me. It is a fun time. Waiting to go outside just takes so long.

  • Part 35 – Boring

Mom and I discussed my blog posting yesterday, but I really didn’t have anything important to say. She had bookkeeping for a number of the groups she is involved with. She informed me that sitting on her keyboard was not helping. I did point out that she had her Saturday dates mixed. She was planning to drive to Canton for the NE Texas Book Bash, but I let her know that is the 9th. This Saturday she is at the Bonham Creative Arts Center for their holiday bazaar. I know that if I could go, I’d help people pick the right book to give as a gift. All of this means I’ll be bored for the next two Saturdays. I love Dad, but Mom holds me more than he does. I hate being bored. Guess I’ll go take a nap.

  • Part 36 – It is Sunday

Sunday means that I get to share my view of the world with my online friends. I haven’t gone viral yet, but I’m not sure that is why Mom and I write this blog. I know she worries about my diagnosis of cancer. It doesn’t help that I can’t seem to keep my weight up. I think I look good at 10 lbs rather than my pudgy 15 lbs before the surgery. She says I have a bony ass. Since I can’t look at myself from above as she does, I can’t really say she is wrong. She keeps buying different foods for me to try. I would rather eat my regular dried food. This week she is trying a vitamin supplement gel that is designed to “support healthy appetite.” I can’t say that I’m impressed, but we shall see.

I’m surprised that Mom was willing to write this post. She was signing books at the Bonham Creative Arts Center’s holiday bazaar. She said that she met lots a wonderful people there, and was surprised when one of them was a reader who bought a book at an event there over a year ago. The woman was ready for the next book! That made Mom very happy. I know she talks to far more people than just those who buy a book. That is both enjoyable and tiring for her. Although they normally go shopping, I think they will stay home today. Maybe we can curl up and watch a movie. I like that because we get to snuggle. I’ll admit that is one of my favorite things. It is almost as good as being wrapped in the blankets in the van. Both times I get to feel warm and safe.
